Volunteer Opportunities

As a nonprofit organization, the Hope Workers’ Center is able to continue providing its vital support of the migrant-worker community through volunteer support. We are always in need of volunteers to help our services operate at optimal capacity, and we welcome you to join the ranks of many other dedicated volunteers. There are many volunteer opportunities, particularly in four groups: the Education and Assistance Group (EAG), the Chungli Association of Immigrants and their Families (CAIF), El Shaddai, and Lectors and Commentators. Read more about these groups below.

Education and Assistance Group (EAG)

The EAG is a group dedicated to informing migrants in Taiwan about their rights as workers. The group meets monthly, discusses important issues related to migrants’ rights, and educates its members on important topics of labor-law developments. Upon meeting, members of the group take turns presenting informative speeches to the wider migrant-worker community, helping to ensure broad knowledge of rights among workers. If you are passionate about advocacy and standing up for your rights, then you may be interested in joining this group. Learn more here.

Chungli Association of Immigrants and their Families (CAIF)

CAIF is a group intended to support the children of immigrants in our community. Most of the group’s members have one parent who is Filipino and another who is Taiwanese. The group meets every Sunday afternoon, often for lunch, and is an important source of support to its members. Learn more here.

El Shaddai

El Shaddai is a Catholic group within our church. Affiliated with the international charismatic movement of the same name, members of the Chungli El Shaddai Cell sing, dance, and worship God every Sunday afternoon in the basement of our church. Learn more here.

Lectors and Commentators

Lectors and Commentators are those volunteers who help us to celebrate the sacraments during Sunday masses. In order to serve as either a Lector or Commentator, we require a brief training process. If you are Catholic and passionate about the faithful celebration of the sacraments on Sunday, then you should consider joining this group. Learn more here.

If you are interested in volunteering with us in any of these ministries, please contact the Hope Workers’ Center and we will be in touch with you soon.
